This page documents a portion of the data projects I have done.
Alumni Contacts
The CSM Alumni Engagement team lacked an updated address list to contact MD and resident alumni who graduated over five years ago. To address this and re-engage alumni in CSM events and activities, the team initially planned to hire a student intern to manually search for updated doctor addresses. I was then asked to streamline this process and developed a web crawler to automatically extract current business addresses for these doctors from the CPSA, CPSO, and CPSBC websites. My solution resulted in a cost savings of C$6,552 (by eliminating the need for a part-time hire) and a time savings of 2 months.
Community Food Pantry
The CSM community pantry, which provides nonperishable food and essentials, is a grassroots initiative managed by the Precision Equity & Social Justice Office (PESJO) to address local needs. PESJO requested an interactive visualization dashboard to assess weekly donations and consumption, ensuring sufficient resources to support the community. The dashboard also evaluated current practices and identified areas for improvement. As a result, an automated, updated dashboard was developed to allow PESJO to track changes and trends weekly and monthly. The dashboard improved inventory management, reduced waste, enhanced transparency, increased community reach and donor confidence, and facilitated data-informed decision-making.
Small Donation Impact
To increase alumni engagement level, I was requested by the leadership to create the report that shows the impact of the small donations by CSM alumni. The report analyzes the cumulative effect of small donations over a specific period, showcasing how these contributions have supported specific research projects, programs, initiatives, or scholarships at CSM.
PESJO Census Project
The Precision Equity & Social Justice Office (PESJO) at CSM planned to distribute a census survey to collect demographic and belonging data. However, they did not have an accurate list of active faculty, staff, students, and residents to which they could send the survey. I collaborated with multiple units to create an up-to-date member list, validate all information, and update email addresses to the preferred contact (personal, university, or government). The project launched on time with 0.04% of participants unable to be reached.
Award Competition Support
The CSM award specialist sought support in developing supplementary documentation for award competitions. The project employed five fine-tuned models, each trained with the data obtained from the Research Excellence Framework (REF) database, to produce reports detailing clinical, social, and health policy impacts. The final report was generated based on an analysis of over 1,000 publications, more than 80 policy citations, in excess of 100 million research grants, and over 30 awards-won in the past.
